With the beauty of the past as our inspiration, join me, Rae Missigman, as we delicately piece together the old and new, deconstructing a time worn book and making it whole again by building it up with beautifully altered elements. As we explore the process together, we will pull inspiration from our surroundings, repurposing each thread of an idea into dreamy pages of the past. Once our book is complete, we will explore the notion of studying the flora around us as we gather, collect and record our own interpretations of what we are studying. Learn alongside of me as we examine how to document our findings through simple line sketches, ethereal watercolor renderings and slow stitched versions of our findings, creating a keepsake collection of interpretive artist translations. We will explore art through reinvention and exploration as we breathe new life into old world tools such as specimen pockets and field note cards, creating an interpretive and interactive journal of our discoveries.
